2011 Best Picture Oscar Contenders
True stories dominate this year's competition
"Winter's Bone"
Pros: One of the few indie hits this summer, the winner of the 2010 Sundance Film Festival Grand Jury Prize is also a critic's favorite with an intense fan base. It also features a best actress worthy performance from up and comer Jennifer Lawrence.
Cons: Might be a bit too dark for the Academy. Most say it feels more suited for the Independent Spirit Awards on Saturday than Sunday's Oscars telecast.
