Fincher, Nolan, Russell, Boyle, Aronofsky, Hooper, Coens, Weir, Leigh, Coppola, Scorsese - who gets left out?
Chris Nolan, "Inception"
Pro: After only a decade, Nolan has a staggering resume including "Memento," "Insomnia," "Batman Begins," "The Dark Knight" and now "Inception." A critical tour de force, Nolan helmed and co-wrote the most intellectually complex blockbuster ever. He's also due after getting shut out for "The Dark Knight" and "Memento" (especially after the DGA recognized him with nominations for both).
Con: Is he perceived as too commercial? Has he not worked the circuit enough ? Yes, that sounds impossible to believe, but the Academy are a fickle bunch. He should be a lock, but he's been shut out undeservedly before.
