Cannes Film Festival 2013

2011 Best Director Oscar Contenders

Fincher, Nolan, Russell, Boyle, Aronofsky, Hooper, Coens, Weir, Leigh, Coppola, Scorsese - who gets left out?

Alejandro González Iñárritu, "Biutiful"

Pro: A previous nominee in this category for "Babel," Iñárritu won the best director award at the 2006 Cannes Film Festival and is behind such critically acclaimed pictures as "21 Grams" and "Amores Perros."  He's been given kudos for his striking realistic approach to his latest endeavor.

Con:  Unfortunately, "Biutiful" isn't universally adored and may be a tough watch for many Academy members.  His best bet may be as Mexico's submission for best foreign language film.
