Portman, Swinton, Lawrence, Bening, Kidman, Manville, Hathaway, Williams: who gets left out?
Gwyneth Paltrow, "Country Strong"
Pro: The Oscar winner for "Shakespeare in Love" hasn't garnered another nod in the 11 years since (hmmmm), but she's taking a risk playing a country singer looking to make a comeback and sings her own songs in the process. Hollywood loves it when their favorites take risks and pull it off. At the least, she should get a Globe nominee in the best actress in a comedy or musical category.
Con: It's unclear how much love for Paltrow is left in the Academy after she's slowly joined the club of "mistaken winners in hindsight." And if people start questioning her believability as a country superstar, she's got no shot for a nod.
