  • What does it say about the legitimacy of the awards if performers have to campaign for them like common politicians or studios and distributors must have experience promoting to academy voters?

There is something seriously flawed about the way they hand out the Oscars. Which means they are empty and soulless. I won't say they don't mean anything because most people think the awards are legit.

But the voters really are very lazy. Is it too much trouble for them to take it seriously and watch all of the good films? I would think that when there is buzz surrounding a performance, the responsible voter would be sure to watch that film.

Sally Hawkins wasn't nominated for "Happy-Go-Lucky." She should have been, but she wasn't. You might want to correct that in her write-up, especially since a lot of the buzz about a possible nomination for "Made in Dagenham" rests on her having been snubbed for "Happy-Go-Lucky."

At least two significant spoilers in those write-ups. What kind of operation are you people running here? Seriously though, it's really uncool...90-plus minutes of movie to talk about, and you can't resist dropping spoiler bombs? What a weak writer.

ji paul and zoe - that wasnt a spoiler - just like the fact the movie is about a lesbian couple and their kids is not a spoiler. There is no mystery. So settle down. This is a good movie though for the open minded, just about a family. No dang car chases and murders. Just about people trying to live and love each other --- OH! I gave it away.

    Disappointed viewer

This movie and it's cast shouldn't even be discussed as potential Oscar winners. It just didn't have much weight. Probably only being considered because it's a film about a lesbian couple.

David I understand this movie originally included a scene of people defecating. I am glad they dropped this.

I realize "Let Me In" was not a big box office hit but Chloe Grace Moretz should at least be nominated for her fantastic performance as the eternally young and lonely vampire.. best movie of the decade too!

ben cardona It's not my intention to read as a hater, but people gotta stop praising Chloe Moretz. Fine, the girl can be funny & sarcastic. But she has a long run on the dramatic field. Lina Leandersson, from the original 'Let the right one in', had her for breakfast. And for the record, the pollution of actors who stand in front of a camera with their coldness & barely moving a facial muscle while a single tear appears on their cheek are getting on my nerves. Acting is NOT doing anything. It's doing a lot without showing the sewing.

Ivan Lina couldn't hold a candle to Moretz. The boy who played Oskar was much more interesting than her even. Barely moving facial muscles? Yeah, that's what you get with Lina. Did you even watch LMI? Moretz's facial expressions were the key to her amazing portrayal of Abby, plus she didn't need to have a dub over voice as Lina did in LTROI.

There's at least a dozen actresses in that list that Chloe Moretz outshines with her performance from LET ME IN.

Naomi Watts is in the top sixteen. And Kidman is hardly in the top three, yet alone in a position to win.

  • Chloe Grace Moretz did not outshine Lina Leandersson in the original, but she still gave it her all and gave a great performance in Let Me In. The box office performance was disappointing, but she still did an excellent job and deserves mention.

No love for Naomi Watts? She was completely snubbed for her exceptional performance in Mulholland Dr., and she stood no chance against Charlize Theron in 2003. Personally, I think she nailed her roles in Mother and Child and Fair Game. Besides, the Academy tends to favor actresses who play real women, especially if they were as exceptional as Watts was in playing Valerie Plame. Seriously, if the Academy let Julia Roberts and Sandra Bullock win over Ellen Burstyn and Meryl Streep, they better at least nominate Naomi...anyone agree?

Yeah, could have used a spoiler alert for Anne Hathaway's ailment in Love and Other Drugs. The movie just opened today, so there's really no excuse to indicate the plot. I doubt most of the viewing public has seen it.

  • Anne Hathaways performance in the "other drugs" is not quite there. I think she will be lucky to get a golden globe nom though.

  • Why does nobody mention Diane Lane for an Oscar. Academy voters do not seem to be bothered about a film about a horse. May i remind them about a film called "Babe". That was nominated for over 7 oscar including best picture and made over 250 million worldwide. They can like a film about a pig but not a horse?????
