Pro: A crowd-pleasing true story of boxer at the end of his rope, "The Fighter" has rich characters, humor and tried to bypass the cliche's (some of which are unavoidable) wherever possible.
Con: Besides the relationship between Micky Ward (Mark Wahlberg) and his brother Dickie (Christian Bale), this is a story you've seen many times before. The actors stellar work and the direction from David O. Russell may be the real winners here. That means a borderline shot at a nod for the writing trio at this point.
