2010 Golden Globe TV Nomination Contenders
Will 'True Blood' add nominations? Will new shows like 'Glee' and 'Modern Family' crack the nomination rolls?
Best Performance by an Actor in a Television Series - Drama
Probable Nominees:
Jon Hamm, "Mad Men"
Hugh Laurie, "House"
Michael C. Hall, "Dexter"
Bryan Cranston, "Breaking Bad";
Strong Candidates:
Gabriel Byrne, "In Treatment"
Kiefer Sutherland, "24"
Simon Baker, "The Mentalist"
Bill Paxton, "Big Love"
Jonathan Rhys Meyers, "The Tudors"
Patrick Dempsey, "Grey's Anatomy"
Stephen Moyer, "True Blood"
Dark Horses:
Nathan Fillion, "Castle"
Joseph Fiennes, "FlashForward"
Ian McShane, "Kings"
Denis Leary, "Rescue Me"
Lowdown:
There are no actors from new dramas ready to step up into into the nomination field, unless Golden Globe voters decide to entirely invalidate themselves by including Fiennes. Instead, count on the regular four getting nominations, leaving exactly one spot, perhaps coming down to former perennial nominee Sutherland, former nominee Paxton, last year's surprising snub Baker and Moyer, if the Foreign Press has truly caught "True Blood" fever.
