Bet on it:
Lee Daniels, "Precious"
Jason Reitman, "Up in the Air"
Quentin Tarantino, "Inglourious Basterds"
Kathryn Bigelow, "The Hurt Locker"
Neil Blomkamp, "District 9"
James Cameron, "Avatar"
Joel and Ethan Coen, "A Serious Man"
Clint Eastwood, "Invictus"
Tom Ford, "A Single Man"
Rob Marshall, "Nine"
Lone Sherfig, "An Education"
Remember the earlier comment "someone is gonna get screwed"? That also pretty much applies to the directing contenders as well. Bigelow should make the five -- in fact, she really needs it for her Oscar hopes -- but Blomkamp, Marshall and the Coens could easily trump her. One to watch on Globe nomination morning for sure.
