Winner/Loser: CBS' 'The Good Wife'
Coming into Emmy night, it was considered a given that Julianna Margulies was winning for Lead Actress in a Drama and there was at least an off chance that one of the show's two supporting women might get recognized. Instead, Archie Panjabi was an upset winner in the Supporting field, but when they got to Lead Actress, "The Closer" star Kyra Sedgwick won her first Emmy, leaving Margulies a beaten favorite. Oh well. An Emmy is an Emmy and Margulies has her Golden Globe and her somewhat odd Television Critics Association Award and her hit second year drama for solace.
