2010 Emmy Awards predictions: Will '30 Rock' and 'Mad Men' go down?
Can anybody beat Jane Lynch or Julianna Margulies? And what are the likely upsets?
Outstanding Supporting Actor In A Comedy Series
Outstanding Supporting Actor In A Comedy Series
Chris Colfer, "Glee"
Neil Patrick Harris, "How I Met Your Mother"
Jesse Tyler Ferguson, "Modern Family"
Eric Stonestreet, "Modern Family"
Ty Burrell, "Modern Family"
Jon Cryer, "Two and a Half Men"
Should Win: For comedy, you don't beat Eric Stonestreet at the gas station in "Fizbo." You just don't. But for drama in a comedic role? Boy oh boy was Chris Colfer spectacular in "Laryngitis," his selected episode.
Will Win: The category isn't titled Outstanding Comic Actor in a Comedy Series. And if you're looking at the six available submission episodes and weighing what *acting* these six actors get to do in their episodes, Colfer towers over the field. I think that with the ability to isolate and compare performances, Emmy voters may come to a similar conclusion, letting Colfer pull off an upset win. [Picking upset wins for Emmy night is a pretty silly thing to do. It would serve NPH right if, after losing in multiple years was the deserving winner, he won in this less-than-deserving year.]

(I'm talking about SOA, Sagal, Hurst and Arkin).

Supporting Actor in a Comedy: I definitely don't think Chris Colfer takes it home, I see your argument, but I just feel that Neil Patrick Harris takes it home this year (for last year and the year before that). I also think Emmy voters are on an NPH high this year and would like to give him 3 awards. Plus the voters will feel they've satisfied Glee's acting award necessity with Jane Lynch.
Lead Actress in a Comedy: I think Falco wins, not because she had the best work (I'm still in Pohler's corner) but 50% because she has very good work and 50% because the Emmy voters LOVE Carmela Soprano...I mean Edie Falco.
Outstanding Comedy Series: I don't think Glee wins because, ultimately, I think the Emmy voters are fairly traditional people and they realize that they have to pick a series that thrives on actual comedy and not it's musical numbers, in this case that series is Modern Family.
With everyone picking Michael C Hall to win, I'm going to be seriously upset if he doesn't. That man needs his Emmy!
Oh and can someone explain to me, why oh why did Aaron Paul pick Half Measures over One Minute as his submission episode?!?! Why? Though as a huge Lost fan, I won't be upset if Emerson or O'Quinn wins, I just think Paul was better this year.
noah Aaron said in an interview the reason he picked half measure was that their was such a wide range of emotions during that particular episode.

Aaron Paul deserves it but he will be usurped by a "Lost" guy. Which really is no shame as both O'Quinn and Emerson are terrific.
I think Edie Falco will end up with the award, mainly due to the Emmys laziness of recognising her as Carmela Soprano. She's terrific don't get me wrong, but I'm also one of those people who has trouble classifying "Nurse Jackie" as a comedy.
