Kate Hudson, "Nine"
Previous nominations or wins:
Nominee, Best Actress in a Supporting Role, "Almost Famous" (2001)
Pros: This may be Hudson's best role since "Famous" which was way back in 2000. And if her new number is one of the more memorable moments in the film, it only increases her chances to outshine a number of her more prestige popular co-stars. The famous family and old school Hollywood connections don't hurt either.
Cons: Many actors have some clunkers on their resume, but boy, Hudson has certainly been hanging out at the used car dealership the past decade. "Alex and Emma," "Raising Helen," "You, Me and Dupree," "My Best Friend's Girl," Fool's Gold" - shall we continue? Oh, and the tabloid fodder of dating the Yankees A-Rod isn't a plus at this point.
