Christian McKay, "Me and Orson Welles"
Previous nominations or wins: None
Pros: As the bigger than life Welles, the previously unknown McKay absolutely steals the movie away from its main star Zac Efron (who is miscast anyway). Hilarious while not crossing the line of being over-the-top, McKay should receive raves for his performance by critics.
Cons: The picture is being self-released by the produces and director Richard Linklater through an indie distributor. Can they put the resources forth to ensure a solid theatrical take let alone a proper awards campaign? Or will everyone just stare in disbelief at the god-awful U.S. poster?
