From Penelope Cruz to Rachel Weisz to Emily Blunt what a weak class it is
Saoirse Ronan, "The Lovely Bones"
Previous nominations or wins:
Nominee, Best Actress in a Supporting Role, "Atonement," (2008)
Pros: As Susie Salmon, Ronan has the difficult role of acting mostly against blue screen as her onscreen family deals with her character's death. Word is Ronan pulls this off beautifully and if the film works, she could be a big benefactor come awards time.
Cons: It's all going to be about whether the film works or not. Some say it's a legit contender, others feel it's just a strong commercial thriller. Even after her sparkling and Oscar-nominated work in "Atonement," Ronan won't be able to get nominated without "Bones" becoming the former.
