Chris Evans as Captain America? Check.  Sebastian Stan as his sidekick Bucky? Check.  Hugo Weaving as his arch nemesis the Red Skull? Check. Cap's love interest Peggy Cater?  Well, that's to be determined.

The 1940's era love interest of Steve Rogers, Marc Malkin of E!Online reports that Alice Eve ("She's Out of My League") is the leading candidate, but fellow Brit Hayley Atwell ("The Prisoner") is also still in contention. 

Carter will be something of an unknown to most "Captain America" fans as the contemporary hero (who arrived in our time after being in suspended animation) has been romantically involved with SHIELD agent Sharon Carter for sometime.  "The First Avenger: Captain America" is expected to primarily take place around World War II, but it's possible Carter's character could appear in "The Avengers" movie down the road.  Of course, this is purely conjecture at this point, but Rogers will certainly have a love interest as he takes on the Nazi's in "First Avenger." Joe Johnston's "Captain America" is supposed to begin production sometime this summer.
