20 Worst Films of 2011: 'Pirates of the Caribbean: On Stranger Tides,' 'Jack and Jill,' 'Apollo 18'

'Abduction,' 'Beastly,' 'New Year's Eve' and...?

How bad did it get?

How bad did it get?

How bad was 2011?  Well, it wasn't god awful, but the HitFix editorial team had no problem coming up with 20 films that deserved the honor of being on a "worst films of the year" list.  In fact, some notable clunkers didn't make the cut.  How about "The Sitter," "Priest," "The Three Musketeers," "Dream House," "The Caller," "The Thing" and Gus Van Sant's ridiculous "Restless"? And, shoot, "The Darkest Hour" wasn't screened for critics by deadline (we're guessing that could easily make the list). On second thought, perhaps we should have expanded the list to 30...

There should be Immortals and the Thing remake on this list.

Mandrake1979 Have you watched it? it was a thinly veiled remake. That failed at every occasion.

Rrz28 It is not a remake. If you watched the original and all of this one, you can clearly see this was a prequel.

Monty Jack I actually thought the Thing prequel was pretty underrated. Not as good as the original, um, remake, but still well-made and worthy of respect. Everyone hated the Carpenter film when it was first released...

Joe No it was a prequel. That's why it ends where John Carpenter's "Thing" begins. Have you actually seen the movie?

Mandrake1979 Really? bloody hell people just read what I wrote!

P.s. No one will talk about the thing 2011 in 30 years time.

P.p.s. Yes I have seen the movie and if you believe the scene after the credits ties it into the JC film then you must have missed every single mistake and continuity error in this THNLY VEILED REMAKE!!!

I would have voted for "The Tree of Life" as the #1 worst movie

Tedd Not a Terry Malick fan, eh? It was my favorite movie of the year by a fair margin thus far, though to be fair I haven't seen many of the Oscar bait-y ones yet. And I also haven't seen Jack and Jill, so I should probably use pencil on ye olde liste. (That last sentence was facetious, the rest wasn't).

There should be a rating list on critics! Some of these "critics" are complete and utter idiots! As a point of proof talk to your friends about movies they really liked then looked at the critic reviews. More often than not the critics get it wrong!

Tedd Only if your friend's opinions are "right". Maybe you just have friends with really terrible taste in movies. Or maybe there is no such thing as right and wrong with regards to opinions of movies, so calling anyone "idiots" for their stated tastes is, well, idiotic.

Tedd Well said. What idiots with their stupid lists. I'm going to go make a smart list right now with a pen and paper. That'll show them.

    Fail.

Pirates 4 was a lot better than 3 & a hell of a lot better than about 80% of the complete & utter garbage that was released this year.

I thought "Your Highness" was one of the worst films of the year. I agree about "Red Riding Hood" (it actually should be higher on the list) and others. I didn't think Pirates was bad. Maybe it is nothing special or anything like that, but not bad.
The Eagle was not good, but to be honest I expected something much worse. It's not that bad, but it's not worth paying the ticket price for it.
It's interesting you haven't included any animations. There are some worth at least honorable mentions.
What about "Transformers"? I haven't seen it, so I don't really know about this one.

Actually you should learn how to write first, it's "medieval" not "midieval".

It's "medieval" not "midieval". Before you can write online, you need to know how to spell.
