The Most Anticipated Movies of 2010 include 'Eclipse,' 'Harry Potter,' 'Iron Man 2'
Plus the return of David Fincher, Darren Aronofsky, Christopher Nolan, Tim Burton and Tron
A Mad Hatter, a Fashionista, and an Iron Man
The quality of films in 2009 may have been hampered a bit by the writer's work stoppage two years ago, but 2010 is looking like an impressive rebound for the creative side of Hollywood. The most prominent evidence of the increase in quality are the films that didn't make the top 20 most anticipated list. How about "Clash of the Titans," "Prince of Persia: The Sands of Time," "Area 51," "MacGruber," "The Last Airbender," "The American," "Shrek Forever After," "The Green Hornet" and "The Runaways"? Just to name a few mind you (and we haven't even hit Sundance yet).
More intriguing are the number of actors who are doing double duty on this round up. Robert Downey, Jr., Russell Brand, Helen Mirren, Anna Kendrick, Natalie Portman and Andrew Garfield (you probably don't know him now, but you soon will), all have two major pictures hitting the multiplex from the 20. And here everyone thought Samuel L. Jackson was the hardest working man in show business. Well, not this go around.
Review our choices and share your own thoughts below. One thing everyone can agree upon is that it's going to be an intense and challenging 12 months of moviegoing. And, obviously, we can't wait.

December 31, 2009 at 12:02PM EST Reply to CommentI'm sorry but Sex in the City 2 is one of the most anticipated movies of 2010? You gotta be kidding me!
What are there some unanswered questions left from the millions of seasons of the tv show and the first movie?
Laer Carroll Sex/City made $416 miilion in 2008. We guys don't care about it, but plenty of ladies do - maybe more than those in 2008.

January 1, 2010 at 6:53AM EST Reply to CommentUm, there's this little movie called Toy Story 3 coming out in June. You may have heard of it. It's from Pixar. You may have heard of them as well. They're the folks behind movies like Finding Nemo, The Incredibles, Ratatouille, WALL-E and Up. Does that ring a bell to you? It does? Well, then why is Toy Story 3 missing from this list?
I mean, who cares about The Twilight Saga: Eclipse? It's going to suck just like the first two.
Ryan Hoffman Yea ever hear of Pixar? Great list, just probably the worst omission anyone has ever made in the history of list-making.
January 1, 2010 at 2:13PM ESTLaer Carroll Uh, yeah RvH. Twilight 3 is gonna suck. It's also going to make about a trillion dollars because of al the ladies going to see it - and not just teen ladies.
January 2, 2010 at 12:03AM ESTDude, do you think guys are the only ones who shell out big bucks for movies?
RvH Yes, I know that Twilight #3 will make a zillion dollars because almost the entire female population will see it. I'm not stupid. So, based on that I guess it does to deserve to be on the most anticipated list. But that still doesn't change the fact that Toy Story 3 should have been on this list. It's Pixar, it's going to make a lot of money and it's going to be very good at least.

January 2, 2010 at 12:28AM EST Reply to CommentI really dig movies about fems kicking ass. Got a feeling THAT movie is going to be renamed HIT-GIRL. Then there's Scarlett Johansson as a super-spy.
And has anybody noticed that the Twifilms are turning into super-hero action movies? Ooh, and the French actress who goes all Indiana Jones - looking forward to that one.
