"Halt and Catch Fire" (AMC) - May 31
The drama about the early days of the personal computer age was slow to boot up in its first season, and generally felt as much of a clone of previous AMC shows as its product was meant as a fast and cheap copy of an IBM PC. But the creative team started putting the pieces together in interesting ways by the end of the first season, and season 2 has even more bounce in its step, as the focus shifts to the show's more vibrant female characters, and as all four main characters begin realizing the possibilities of online interaction. It's not another "Mad Men," but it now feels like a real TV show and not just a reverse-engineered one.
