Williams gave the term "child-like" a run for its money in a number of roles, like as a toy-maker in surreal "Toys" and a clown working with children in "Patch Adams." It was no wonder that he took up the flag as Peter Pan in Steven Spielberg's "Hook," which had him literally bouncing off his cohorts like Oscar winners Dustin Hoffman and Julia Roberts, along with throngs of Neverland kids who were obviously, visibly tickled by Williams at every turn of phrase and physical gag. The role had him in action-star mode too, as he sword-fought and whisked around the cartoonish set. This was the high-energy, giggly, food-fighty Pan, played by an adult who wouldn't ever grow up in all the right ways.
