John Cusack, 'Grosse Pointe Blank'
When Cusack appeared as a nice guy hit man attending his ten year reunion in the 1997 action-comedy, he was known mostly as the eccentrically handsome sad sack next-door in films like "Better Off Dead," "One Crazy Summer" and "The Sure Thing." He'd dipped his toes into darker waters (1990's "The Grifters" comes to mind), but "Grosse Pointe" had the actor handling guns and showing off the real-life kickboxing skills that he teased a few years earlier in Cameron Crowe's "Say Anything..." While he's still not exactly future "Expendables" material, Cusack went on the apply his newfound action chops in "Con Air," the quasi-"Grosse Pointe" sequel "War Inc.," and the more recent "The Raven."
