Toks Olagundoye, 'The Neighbors'
Where You've Seen Her Before: Well, she did an episode of "CSI: NY," an episode of "NCIS," an episode of "Prime Suspect," an episode of "Ugly Betty"… well, you get the idea.
Breakout Role: Lovable alien Jackie Joyner-Kersee (like every alien on this show, she's named after a famous athlete, lest you think Olympic gold medalist Jackie Joyner-Kersee is literally not of this world).
Why: Though this sitcom seems to wend more toward weird-funny than really funny, Olagundoye's sweetly confused interactions with her character's odd human neighbors softens some of the purposefully obtuse storylines. In the pilot, Jackie Joyner-Kersee faces a threat to her family, one of several moments when the pilot veers between comedy and drama. Another actress might have played the moment as slapstick, but Olagundoye takes the opportunity to show the fear any mother -- real or alien -- would experience. It's the right move.
