15 big movie questions for summer: 'Prometheus,' Dark Knight Rises,' Tyler Perry
Could this be the greatest movie summer in decades?
Is 'Moonrise Kingdom' the indie hit of the summer?
Director Wes Anderson is synonymous with indie cool, and his upcoming "Moonrise Kingdom" boasts a typically diverse cast including Edward Norton, Tilda Swinton, Bruce Willis and Anderson regulars Bill Murray and Jason Schwartzman. The cast alone should quickly help "Kingdom" become the breakout hit of the specialty scene this summer, with likely competition including Woody Allen's "To Rome With Love," "Lola Versus," Focus' big gamble "Seeking a Friend For the End of the World" or even the acclaimed, micro-budget "Beasts of the Southern Wild." Anderson's box office track record has been spotty; his recent "Fantastic Mr. Fox" and "The Darjeeling Limited" turned small profits, while the pricey "Life Aquatic" tanked. However, with a prime Cannes bow and lack of true competition in the marketplce, "Moonrise" could rule the art house this summer.
