Could this be the greatest movie summer in decades?
Could "The Campaign" turn out to be a modern comedy classic?
Coming off of "Game Change," Jay Roach certainly has a feeling for the absurdity of the modern political circus, and at their best, Will Ferrell and Zach Galifianakis are both capable of performances that avoid the easy choices. Together, they could well be riding the zeitgeist into the theaters this fall with "The Campaign," a movie that was designed to skewer not one party or the other, but the process itself, this elaborate shell game we call politics. When they started shooting, they couldn't have any idea how bizarre this year's GOP primary season would be, but it feels like the real world is doing its best to render any possible parody moot. If anyone can figure it out, it's this team of collaborators, and our fingers are crossed they take no prisoners.
