#12: Yeah, not in the movie. Not even a little bit.
The Thing never air drops into a military base to wreck faces. I repeat, The Thing never air drops into a military base to wreck faces. Out of all the scenes that aren't in the final product, perhaps this one is the most galling as it was the climax of just about every trailer and commercial put out. And the accompanying dialogue?
Dr. Allen: “How long until he’s in?”
Reed Richards: “Two minutes. Might be a little less.”
This is actually a conversation that has nothing to do with The Thing. Dr. Allen is asking Reed how long until he's able to fix whatever is wrong with the interdimensional travel device. While the final cut as Reed saying, "Ten minutes, maybe less" they obviously did takes where he gave different time frames.
