The Journey: From Fox (2003-06) to Netflix (2013 and onward). The trip took over six years.
Why It Was So Good the First Time: Deliriously and darkly funny, the lovable cranks of the Bluth family were extremely well-cast and well-written. Plus, the show was educational -- how else would we have learned about the never-nudes among us?
How It Fared the Second Time: Underwhelming. Jason Bateman went on the "WTF with Marc Maron" podcast to suggest that poor marketing – selling the new episodes as a fourth season when they were intended to be the first act in a three-act story – misled fans.
Verdict: A fifth season is coming this year, so it couldn't have been that bad of a misfire. "Arrested Development" is like pizza – even "bad" episodes are still pretty good.
