Stop padding the show with montages
Even among the most patient of Oscar geeks, you won't find many who say, "Gee, I wish the ceremony were longer." Yet every year, the show's directors pad out proceedings with at least a couple of unnecessary themed montages. Remember the Kristen Stewart-introduced horror montage a couple of years ago? Or last year's rather half-hearted James Bond reel? By all means showcase the nominated films throughout the evening, but we already get that we're celebrating the movie industry -- no need for a whole lot of off-topic montages to underline the point.
