Find a way to incorporate the Honorary Oscar winners
The removal of the Honorary Oscar presentations from the Oscar ceremony itself remains a sticking point for many awards geeks, but if the new tradition is here to stay, at least give these career-achievement winners their due on air. In previous ceremonies, they've stood up for a brief round of applause, but that feels a bit awkward and tokenistic. Why not actually invite them on stage, showing us some brief highlights from their acceptance speeches? Or better yet, given the star voltage of this year's honorees, why not have them present an award themselves? Angelina Jolie, Angela Lansbury and Steve Martin coming together on stage to present, say, Best Picture would be a genuinely special moment, and make many casual viewers aware of their recent place in Oscar history.
