More imaginative presentation of the craft awards
Okay, we know that most viewers aren't terrible invested in who wins Best Sound Editing or Best Production Design, which is all the more reason to apply some imagination to these award presentations. The Academy has experimented in this area before -- remember the supermodel runway show of the nominated costumes at the 1995 ceremony? -- but last year resorted to the most vanilla format possible, simply flashing the nominees on screen with little explanation of the work at hand. If you actually show us the work, people might get a bit more interested; even if they still take the opportunity for a bathroom break, at least you'll have honored the craft. Use graphics, music, dioramas if that's what it takes -- just show us a bit of movie magic.
