2. "Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen"
Why: There may be no blockbuster in recent memory that makes less sense than the "Transformers" sequel. Seemingly throwing out every "rule" the franchise made in the entertaining first installment, "Revenge of the Fallen's" biggest fault was even more disheartening: the shrill and seemingly annoyed performance of Shia LaBeouf. Even in scenes filmed before his onset injury, LaBeouf seems as though the last place he wants to be is shooting "Transformers 2" and that negative energy makes it hard to care about our hero or his robotic companions (no, not Megan Fox, she's the only seemingly in on the joke). Director Michael Bay and screenwriters Ehren Kruger, Roberto Orci and Alex Kurtzman include every type of action sequence and setting imaginable at audiences (China! Egypt! Space! Underwater! Forests! College!) worrying only about how cool the eye candy can look and dismissing concerns about dialogue and plot details for later (afer release it seems). And if you dare criticize? "Dude, it's a popcorn movie!" Of course, Mr. Bay. How silly of us for wanting a little quality entertainment with our $12 summer snacks.
Silver Lining: Bay seems intent on answering the critics of "Revenge" with a more coherent third installment. Can he improve Mr. LaBeouf's demeanor as well?
