BrocinChina The first Hulk dealt beautifully with real issues. The rest are candy-bar formulas.

May 25, 2012 at 4:21PM EST Reply to CommentHaven't seen some of them, but Blade II was definitely good, and was the best Marvel movie until X-Men came out. Hulk was much superior to its successor, although the final 10 minutes are a muddied mess. But the gem in the bunch was Rocketeer. It was pure fun, and it's a shame it didn't find an audience.
Jay 246 Hulk was much superior to its successor? Right, because scenes of Hulk staring at desert flowers for several minutes is always the indicator of a superior film.
June 7, 2012 at 4:19PM ESTmalbaisee@live.ca Totally agree with respect to the Hulk. Great movie and nice to see properly paced and rich character development. Too bad about the ending. Am surprised a director's cut did not address this...

May 25, 2012 at 9:17PM EST Reply to CommentThe Watchmen is the only comic movie that deserves to be on a list like this and yet it's not even here. Like Thesums so boldly stated, these are crap.
Joe Because The Watchmen movie sucked balls and doesn't deserve respect from anyone. The director took a classic graphic novel and completely blew the opportunity to make a good movie out of it. The changed ending made no sense whatsoever, the acting was bad and the adaptation itself was deeply flawed.
May 28, 2012 at 10:46AM ESTKiara Absolutely agree! Those who don't like Watchmen, didn't get it. Probably one of the best film adaptations EVER! Poor acting? Changed rating without any sense? Blewed opportunities? You must have watched another movie, man.
June 1, 2012 at 4:33PM ESTAndrew Joe. The changed ending made perfect sense, and was frankly thematically more to the point than the books ending, though it definitely lacked the viceral impact. As for the acting being bad, I dont even know where to start with that. It simply wasn't. You can make arguments for the meshing of styles what with the gritty, though stylized reality of the book, and the more polished stylized directing of snyder, but it was a pretty straight forward adaptation with some truely phenomenal performances.
June 1, 2012 at 5:01PM ESTTG Absolutely! Watchmen was a mature take on the hero genre, rather than the typical black and white/good vs evil depictions common to this genre. What happens? The movie gets slammed. Madness.
June 2, 2012 at 1:22PM ESTLarry Watchmen had a couple of interesting scenes but was mostly lifeless. Plus it had some of the worst musical selections of all time (with the exception of the incredible opening).
June 3, 2012 at 1:29AM ESTAvenging World Watchmen the book is a masterpiece. Watchmen the movie did indeed suck balls.
June 7, 2012 at 4:00AM ESThttp://www.thefishshow.com/Archive/WATCHMEN%20UNMASKED.htm
jack uh i dont think watchmen was underrated in the first place. Its true that it didnt get a really good score in rottentomatoes but most of the comic fans liked it alot.
June 12, 2012 at 1:35PM ESTgod_is_a_myth watchmen surely deserved a place on the list.It is the best comic book movie i have ever seen next to christopher nolan's batman films.I had no idea about the graphic novel before watching the movie but still enjoyed it immensely.
June 14, 2012 at 8:02AM ESTLunarModule The Watchman was Awesome!!! The people that didn't like it just lacked the ability to understand what was going on. If you are weak-minded then you do not count.
June 15, 2012 at 10:24AM ESTCyborgUnicorn WATCHMEN isn't on this list because WATCHMEN got a Hugo Award, and the movie was awesome too, made more than it cost, now Zack Snyder is directing Superman. How could you call Watchmen underrated?

gemmer Avengers plot inspiration came in about 1962, so I'm pretty sure well before Watchmen. That movie was better than I expected after reading the critics, but I think becuase a "bad guy" wins, Watchmen was undervalued.

May 26, 2012 at 12:12PM EST Reply to CommentI'm an avid Comic book and movie fan and I totally agree with all of these selections, except the ones I haven't seen, "Josie and the Pussycats, The Losers, and Skyhigh." But I definitely agree that Watchmen should be on here also. 30 days of Nights, I think is actually a good movie but a lot of these are really good guilty pleasures.

May 26, 2012 at 2:59PM EST Reply to CommentHulk?!? Seriously!??!? UGH
E. Nygma I Know! You have to be Kidding me!!! This guy actually thinks this Hulk movie was better than Ed Norton in "The Incredible Hulk"! That is the stupidest thing I have ever heard. Ang Lee's Hulk was hated by comic fans and general audiences a like. I don't know anybody who enjoyed that film.
May 26, 2012 at 4:43PM ESTHow could you even compare this to"The Incredible Hulk" that had Abomination, and actual villain from the comics instead of Mutant dogs. It had amazing acting by Ed Norton, Tim Roth and William Hurt, and a great story inspired by classic Hulk comics.
I am sorry but you are just wrong about this. And no, the CGI wasn't good! I work in the computer animation business and Ang Lee's Hulk in universally recognized as some of the worst CGI animation on film. It is a blueprint for what not to do! This whole list sucks except for the Rocketeer.
TJ Oh boy did I hate the Ed Norton Hulk movie. So. Much. Stupid. Dialog. And how did the effects get worse over 6 years?
May 30, 2012 at 8:10AM ESTI still enjoy the Ang Lee version, even if it's about 15 minutes too long and the end fight was a little disappointing.
C E. Nygma, "mutant dogs" were in the comics. Sorry if that ruins your little rant.
May 30, 2012 at 9:11PM ESTRagdrazi When The Hulk was made, society wasn't as committed to pretentious bullshit. And The Hulk is a giant steaming green pile of pretentious bullshit.
June 3, 2012 at 1:15PM ESTJay 246 I think we can all agree that Hulk was entirely too long, and the effects could have used some serious improvement. But the action scenes do merit better reviews than it usually gets. I will disagree with TJ in that dialogue is essential for developing a story and characters. The Incredible Hulk did this quite well. Eric Bana did this over chicken wings, which most audiences (myself included) did not care for.

May 26, 2012 at 3:47PM EST Reply to CommentDeserves its place on this list: Blade II and The Rocketeer. Really does suck as much as people say: Hulk and Constantine. Almost worthy to be called underrated: 30 Days of Night

May 26, 2012 at 8:43PM EST Reply to Commentyepper...this one is better than you probably remember. I watched it again with my niece and nephew and they liked this one better than the Ed Norton version. Of course, The Avengers Hulk is spot-on and best adaptation yet. And I don't think it's the technology...they just finally gave us "HULK"

May 27, 2012 at 10:39AM EST Reply to CommentEveryone I know likes BLADE II, and SKY HIGH really isn't a comic book movie. It is an original piece that acts as a pseudo-parody of the genre. Though I do agree with most of the other choices (especially Ang Lee's HULK).

May 27, 2012 at 10:25PM EST Reply to CommentI didn't like any of the Hulk movies, although Eric Bana to me look more like the Hulk than Edward Norton.
I have respect for Norton, he's a damn good actor but I could not see him as the Hulk.
The only time I enjoyed the Hulk was the TV show and the recent Avengers!
And Why is the Phantom not in this list? that movie was much better than half the crap on this list, atleast
Hugo It's not about whether you look like hulk, It's about whether you look like Bruce Banner and Ed Norton looked more like Bruce then Eric Banna
June 3, 2012 at 5:15AM ESTJay 246 Totally agree with Hugo.
June 7, 2012 at 4:34PM ESTJoshua Sorry my bad Hugo, I wrote that wrong I meant to say Eric Bana looked more like a Bruce Banner than Ed to me in my opinion.

May 27, 2012 at 11:10PM EST Reply to CommentI think that the decision on whether the movies are underrated or not is influenced by how long they've been reading comic books. I am 62 and have several decades of reading comics to look back on. I would agree with Hulk, Dick Tracy, League, Rocketeer and Sky High. Considering the movies listed, I'd like to add Zoom to the list.

May 28, 2012 at 10:42AM EST Reply to CommentLeague of Extraordinary Gentlement was sheer unredeeming, utter garbage. So was Sky High and Josie and the Pussycats for that matter. I agree on Blade II, Constantine, Losers and The Rocketeer (Captain America reminded me how much I liked that one). The rest are nothing to care about at all.

May 30, 2012 at 12:50AM EST Reply to CommentI absolutely love ang lee's adaptation of the hulk. i was so sick & tired of the kiddie teeny bopper superhero flicks like tobey mguire's spiderman. So glad to see a marvel character done with seriousness. Ang lee's serious take on the hulk as it should was wonderful. For those people that said the watcher is out of their mind. That was a action packed film. Not everybody read the comics. sure they might not have followed the comic story line to a tee but people need to understand there is only one way to judge a movie: Where you entertained? Stop acting like snobby elitist critics trying to justify their worthless jobs. All you gotta ask yourself is were you entertained? that's it.

May 30, 2012 at 8:13AM EST Reply to CommentInteresting list. I would add Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles. That is a legitimately good, funny comic book movie. I maintain that the mixed critical response had more to do with critics not willing to go with the premise than it did the quality of the movie.
I think if you release that movie--as is--in 2006, when critics were more willing to go with silly comic book premises, it basically gets the same positive reviews as Hellboy.

May 30, 2012 at 8:42AM EST Reply to CommentI absolutely loved Sky High and the Losers was terrific too. I really wanted to see sequels to both.
Ang Lee's Hulk was awful and boring and just terrible. Mark Ruffalo and the Hulk in the new Avengers movie shows even more clearly how horrible the original Hulk movie was and how it failed on every level
APatriot1 Agree. The Ruffalo Banner hits the mark and the Hulk in the Agengers made the movie. Marvell redeemed the franchise with this one.
