10 TV shows that were off the air longer than 'Mad Men'

Don Draper's been away for 17 months, but he's got nothing on Basil Fawlty

"Futurama" (7 years)

"Futurama": It debuted on FOX around the same time as "Family Guy" and was canceled about a year later, in 2003. It was also resurrected thanks to cable repeats, but in a different way. Thanks to good ratings on Comedy Central, 20th Century Fox Television decided to produce four straight-to-DVD "Futurama" films, which Comedy Central later converted into a 16-episode "season" that aired in 2008-09. And those did well enough that the show resumed as an actual ongoing TV series in June of 2010. A new season is set to begin airing this summer.
