It's common knowledge that a number of well known actors including Bradley Cooper and Justin Timberlake auditioned for the role of Hal Jordan along with Ryan Reynolds.  What most people don't know is that he was director Martin Campbell's first choice.  HitFix asked Campbell on the set of "Green Lantern" what differentiated Reynolds from the other possible contenders.

"Largely because his ability as an actor. He looks great, he has a sense of humor. He's physically prefect for the role," Campbell revealed. "We tested like eight people, maybe six people. I can't remember.  And to be honest, Ryan was always my first choice. You go through a studio process where you test other people than for no other reason than to make sure you know it shouldn't be any other person."
