10 things we learned on the set of 'Green Lantern'

Ryan Reynolds, Mark Strong and Martin Campbell speak

Hal Jordan is 'witty' and Han Solo crossed with Chuck Yeager

During the visit, HitFix and the visiting press were shown a cut scene from early on in the picture featuring Blake Lively as Carol Ferris and Ryan Reynolds as Hal Jordan.  Jordan has just crashed a very expensive plane owned by Ferris Aircraft and Carol is not happy.  Jordan tries to deflate the situation with comedy, but only finds his childhood friend getting more angry with him.  For most die hard Green Lantern fans, this may be the most difficult part of the film to embrace because Hal Jordan is hardly known for cracking jokes like Tony Stark or Spider-Man.  Speaking to Reynolds later that day on set, he insisted that Jordan's humor would not be typical sarcastic Reynolds.

"I always saw the guy as Han Solo crossed with Chuck Yeager," Reynolds says. "He's not funny, but he's witty and his wit is more a self defense mechanism than anything else.  He's skilled at avoidance in every way, so in anyone who is skilled at that can divert someone's attention with humor, an offhanded remark or something like that. He's really good at that.  He's quick with his mouth, but he's not making jokes or something like that.  There's no moment in the middle of the film where I feel there is a 'ba-dum-bum-bum' moment."

And that admission should make many Green Lantern fans breath a deep sigh of relief.
