Learning is half the battle...even for a Green Lantern
The summer movie season is already underway with one successful launch of a new super hero franchise, "Thor," and two more waiting in the wings, "Green Lantern" and "Captain America: The First Avenger." While Marvel Studios is looking for solid returns for its "Avengers" movie prequel, Warner Bros. is hoping to finally launch the first blockbuster series around a DC Comics hero who isn't from the planet Krypton or dresses up like a bat every night to patrol Gotham City. Fans have also been waiting for "Green Lantern's" big screen debut (it's one of the biggest selling comic books every month by the way) and the more footage Warner Bros. and director Martin Campbell are able to finish in time for the film's June 17 release, the more it appears those dreams are coming to fruition.
HitFix traveled to the set of "Green Lantern" in New Orleans, Louisiana last summer to check out the mammoth undertaking Campbell and producer Donald DeLine were finishing at the time. We spoke to our film's hero, Ryan Reynolds, as well as Mark Strong (Sinestro), Campbell and Production Designer Grant Major who provided a slew of details about the film. Blake Lively (Jordan's childhood friend and love interest Carol Ferris) wasn't around, but the spectacle the filmmakers put on display more than made up for it. With that in mind, check out 10 things we learned from the set of what could be the summer's biggest thrill ride.
