10 things we learned from the new 'Star Trek Into Darkness' preview

Just who is Benedict Cumberbatch playing?

It looks like there's action on at least three worlds

Future San Francisco is clearly a major backdrop for "Star Trek Into Darkness," but the trailer also features footage that appears to take place on one or two (or more) other worlds. First we see Kirk and McCoy running through an unearthly field full of some sort of red plants, and later there is significant action on a volcanic world reminiscent of "Star Wars: Episode III." The franchise's raison d'être is to explore new worlds and cultures, and it looks like Abrams and his screenwriters are having a field day depicting them this time around.
