Why was Elizabeth Banks feeling the heat? Who was brought to tears by Jennifer Lawrence?
Elizabeth Banks came down with heat exhaustion the third day of shooting
Thanks to the oppressive summer heat in the North Carolina locations where the film was shot, the suffocatingly-elaborate costumes and makeup Banks was required to don for the role of Katniss' emotionally-stunted Hunger Games chaperone Effie Trinket at one point proved more than the actress could handle.
"I got heat exhaustion my third day of filming, which I had never had before and I don’t recommend it to anyone," said Banks. "[The costume] was very uncomfortable, and purposely so. I mean we really I tried to—I wanted her clothes to be oppressive. ...I wanted the costume to work on me as an actress, and it did. ...A great part of the job I was doing was being constricted and oppressed and hot and uncomfortable, and just being constantly reminded that that’s what [the character] live[s] under."
