15 Breakout Stars of Summer 2012
Diego Boneta, Josh Henderson, Lucy Griffiths and more
Benjamin Walker
Previously Seen: Portraying at least two other real-life historical figures: a young Alfred Kinsey in Bill Condon's "Kinsey", and Iwo Jima casualty Corporal Harlon Block in Clint Eastwood's "Flags of Our Fathers"
Expected Breakout Role: Timur Bekmambetov's "Abraham Lincoln: Vampire Hunter" (June 22)
Why: The shockingly-American actor (you mean a Brit or an Aussie isn't playing our 16th president?) received his big break last January when he beat out more established thesps including Adrien Brody, Josh Lucas and James D'Arcy for the title role in Fox's adaptation of the best-selling Seth Grahame-Smith mash-up novel. Whether "Wanted" director Bekmambetov managed to make something watchable out of the inherently silly concept is an open question - but if Walker acquits himself nicely in the role, and if the film manages to pull in at least reasonably good box-office numbers, it'll surely pave the way for future leading-man roles for the young star.
