'X-Men' beats 'Avengers 2' to the punch with Quicksilver tease
"X-Men: Days of Future Past" has made the latest move in the Quicksilver war.
Both 20th Century Fox's upcoming mutant sequel and Joss Whedon's "The Avengers 2" (set up at Marvel and Disney) have made claim on the somewhat obscure Marvel superhero Quicksilver for the two competing films.
Earlier this week, Whedon revealed that Quicksilver (AKA: Pietro Maximoff) -- and his sister Scarlet Witch -- would be a "huge part" in "Avengers," but now "X-Men" director Bryan Singer has revealed a set photo teasing Qucksilver's presence in his film.
Singer tweeted the photo of the Maximoff's mailbox, with the caption "House call." Perhaps the mailbox is glimpsed when a certain mutant leader first appears at the Maximoff homestead in order to recruit Pietro played by Evan Peters).
Whether the hero appears in both films or not remains to be seen, but "X-men" clearly has made the first move. However, Quicksilver can't be much more than a supporting player in "Future Past," as it's already loaded with mutants from two different eras. It also stars Hugh Jackman, Patrick Stewart, James McAvoy, Michael Fassbender, Jennifer Lawrence, Nicholas Hoult, Anna Paquin, Ellen Page, Peter Dinklage, Omar Sy and Halle Berry.
"X-Men: Days of Future Past" will be released May 23, 2014, with "The Avengers 2" hitting theaters summer 2015.
