'X-Men: Apocalypse' will center on Mystique and Magneto's romance
Although "X-Men: Apocalypse" will doubtlessly be packed with super-mutant action, it will surprisingly be full of love.
The 2016 film will center on the blossoming romance between Jennifer Lawrence's blue-skinned Mystique and Michael Fassbender's metal-manipulating Magneto. References to their romantic tension were made in "First Class" and "Days of Future Past," but it was hardly upfront in those films.
A Lawrence profile piece in The Hollywood Reporter says that the film is being "Fox will take full advantage of Lawrence and Fassbender's star power, placing Mystique and Magneto's romance front and center."
Of course, there will still be plenty of screen time given to fellow returning stars James McAvoy, Hugh Jackman, Nicholas Hoult, and Evan Peters, with other franchise veterans likely to sign on.
"X-Men: Apocalypse" opens May 27, 2016.
