Will Jennifer Lawrence's 'X-Men' character get her own film?
Hugh Jackman's Wolverine has had two solo films, with a third one on the way. And there has been talk of spin-offs starring the likes of Magneto, Deadpool and Gambit.
Now, however, it looks like Jennifer Lawrence's Mystique could be the next "X-Men" character to get their own film.
The Oscar winner is one of the many stars of the upcoming "X-Men: Days of Future Past," and will likely be a part of the already-announced sequel, "X-Men: Apocalypse."
But will Mystique fly solo?
"I love what Jen Lawrence has done with her, and I feel like because she is in such a crowded ensemble, there’s so much more opportunity if you were to follow her solo," said "Future Past" writer-producer Simon Kinberg, according to Entertainment Weekly.
The character was played by Rebecca Romijn in the first three "X-Men" films.
Since first appearing as the blue-skinned, shapeshifting clothes-hater in "X-Men: First Class," Lawrence has picked up an Oscar for "Silver Linings Playbook" and become a bonafide superstar, thanks to "The Hunger Games" and its sequels. She'll soon be seen opposite "Silver" co-star Bradley Cooper in the long-delayed "Serena," and in a small part in "Dumb and Dumber To."
"Days of Future Past" opens May 23.
