'Bad Santa' sequel finally coming home for Christmas
There's been talk of a sequel to the 2003 black comedy "Bad Santa" for some time, but Billy Bob Thornton is now officially ready to suit up as a chain-smoking, womanizing, nihilistic St. Nick again.
"The writer is still working on the script, he's doing his rewrite right now," Thorton told Indiewire. "We saw the first draft and we just had a few little things we wanted to take away or add and he's doing that. The plan is to shoot that in the fall," with a Christmas 2013 release date in mind. It will be interesting to see where his character is ten years after the events of the first film, which also starred Tony Cox and Lauren Graham.
Thornton made no mention of Dimension Films' previously revealed plans for a potential third film. It's also unknown who will direct the film (Terry Zwigoff helmed the original), although Thornton is currently at the Berlin Film Festival showing off his filmmaking skills with his latest effort, "Jayne Mansfield's Car."
