Although he wouldn't get the chance to anytime soon ("Bond 23" is currently shooting with Daniel Craig reprising his role as 007), Elba recently addressed the hopeful rumors that he's on a shortlist of actors to play super-suave secret agent James Bond.

While it's strictly in the rumor stage, Elba expressed some concerns with the idea of playing the iconic character, most recently seen in 2008's "Quantum of Solace." "I just don't want to be the black James Bond," Elba told NPR. "Sean Connery wasn't the Scottish James Bond, and Daniel Craig wasn't the blue-eyed James Bond, so if I played him, I don't want to be called the black James Bond."

"I'd definitely consider it," he continued, detailing the elaborate lengths he'd go to to get to a hypothetical meeting with Sony. "I'd not only get in the cab," he said, "but I'd take the taxi driver out of the car, hostage. The taxi, jump out while it was moving, jump onto a pedal bike that was just past the door as I got on it, and then get onto a plane — on the wing — land on top of Sony Studios, slide through the air conditioning, and land in the office."

The British thespian already has an eclectic resume -- playing everything from an intelligent Baltimore drug kingpin on HBO's acclaimed "The Wire," to a bossy bureaucrat on "The Office," to an Asgardian god in this summer's "Thor."
