Eddie Izzard will star in, produce NBC's 'Munsters' update
Is Eddie Izzard ready to be the Al Lewis for the new millennium? NBC is hoping so.
The veteran comedian, monologuist and thespian is set to play Grandpa Munster in "Mockingbird Lane," NBC's pilot reinvention of "The Munsters," from writer Bryan Fuller and director Bryan Singer.
According to Deadline.com, Izzard was originally offered the role in January, but was attacked to an FX development deal. NBC promptly pushed "Mockingbird Lane" out of this development cycle to a June shoot window and was able to re-offer Izzard the part made famous by Lewis in the classic 1960s sitcom.
In addition to starring, the veteran of "The Riches" and "United States of Tara" would also serve as producer.
