Will Jamie Foxx play Martin Luther King for Oliver Stone?
Jamie Foxx may be playing Martin Luther King Jr. on the big screen.
The Oscar winner ("Ray") is in talks to play the slain civil rights leader in DreamWorks and Warner Bros.' biopic that director Oliver Stone ("JFK," "Nixon") is also circling, according to The Wrap.
Stone previously directed Foxx in 1999′s "Any Given Sunday."
Steven Spielberg is onboard to produce the film along with Suzanne de Passe, Madison Jones and Sam Nappi, while members of King's family will likely executive produce.
Kario Salem ("Don King: Only in America") re-wrote the script originally by Ronald Harwood ("The Pianist").
Hollywood has been trying to bring King's life to the big screen for several years. Paul Greengrass ("Captain Phillips") and producer Scott Rudin spent time developing the stalled "Memphis," while Lee Daniels ("The Butler") also worked on Plan B's "Selma," which is now on track with Ava DuVernay ("Middle of Nowhere") planning to direct David Oyelowo as King.
Meanwhile, Foxx will be seen in 2014's "The Amazing Spider-Man 2" and "Annie."
