Oprah, Charlie Sheen, Hugh Laurie lead TV's top earners
Bloggers were a-buzz this week discussing TV Guide's list of TV's top earners.
Overall, it's tough for anybody to top Oprah Winfrey's $315 million take, which dwarves the $45 million earned by Judge Judy Sheindlin in the talk show/syndicated arena.
On the series side, Charlie Sheen towers above the rest of the field, making $1.25 million per episode of "Two and a Half Men," far ahead of the $550,000 per episode pulled in by co-star Jon Cryer. That's followed by the $400,000 per episode paid out to Marcia Cross, Teri Hatcher, Felicity Huffman and Eva Longoria Parker of of "Desperate Housewives."
Being a drama star is apparently less lucrative at its top-end than toplining a half-hour comedy. "House" star Hugh Laurie is at the head of the pack with $400,000+ per episode. "Law & Order: Special Victims Unit" stars Christopher Meloni and Mariska Hargitay are each making $395,000 per episode, followed by the $375,000 for "CSI: Miami" star David Caruso, "CSI" star Marg Helgenberger and "NCIS" star Mark Harmon.
