Cinemax has given a 10-episode order to "Banshee," an action drama from "True Blood" creator Alan Ball.
According to
Deadline.com, Banshee is actually written by Jonathan Tropper and David Schickler and will be directed by Greg Yaitanes, but Ball will serve as executive producer, allowing him to continue his duties on "True Blood."
The series focuses on a con who somehow assumes the identity of the sheriff of Banshee, Pennsylvania. Production on "Banshee," originally developed at HBO, will begin this spring, but the series won't premiere until 2013.
Cinemax originals include "Strike Back," the upcoming "Nemesis" and the temporarily-on-hold "The Transporter."
