Kate Winslet and Catherine Keener to join Steve Carell and Jack Black in Charlie Kaufman's 'Frank or Francis'
Zaniness inspires loyalty.
Kate Winslet and Catherine Keener are set to reunite with boundry-smashing filmmaker Charlie Kaufman on "Frank or Francis," his sophomore directorial effort following "Synecdoche, NY."
They'll join the film's already-epic cast includes Steve Carell, Kevin Kline, Nicolas Cage and Jack Black, according to The Vulture.
The comedy centers on a Kaufman-esque filmmaker (Carell) who gets into a war with an Internet nerd (Black) who spends his time trashing the former's movies. Kline plays an inventor who creates a robotic head that creates screenplay ideas, while "Adaptation" vet Cage plays a washed-up actor who has to host the Academy Awards. And, in typical Kaufman fashion, it's a musical.
Keener and Winslet's roles have yet to be revealed, but both have done some of their best work performing in films written by Kaufman.
Kaufman and Keener previously collaborated on "Synecdoche" and 1998's "Being John Malkovich," which Kaufman wrote and Spike Jonze directed. Winslet co-starred alongside Jim Carrey in the 2004 Kaufman-penned film "Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind." She was recently seen in "Contagion" and "Carnage."
