Will Boba Fett get a new origin in 'Star Wars' spin-off?
Will the "Star Wars" spin-off "Boba Fett" actually be about someone who's not Boba Fett?
Any sour memories of the enigmatic bounty hunter being reduced to a boring little kid in the 2002 prequel "Star Wars: Episode II - Attack of the Clones" may soon be expunged, courtesy of "SW" vet Lawrence Kasdan.
Rumor has it that Kasdan is planning on ret-conning the fan favorite character in a way that will restore Fett's once-mysterious origins.
The "Empire Strikes Back" writer is penning a "Boba Fett" spin-off film, set to appear sometime after the release of J.J. Abrams' 2015 sequel "Star Wars: Episode VII."
Latino Review claims that the spin-off film finds a "Man With No Name"-type stranger murdering the "real" Boba Fett (played as a child by Daniel Logan in "Clones") and stealing his armor, meaning he'll have no connection to the prequels' Jango Fett or his cloned offspring.
If there's any credence to the rumor, it will provide Kasdan with a somewhat blank slate -- although he'll still have to tie the character into the events of 1980's "Empire" and 1983's "Return of the Jedi," the latter of which saw Fett meet his apparent demise.
Meanwhile, "Episode VII" is slated to be released December 18, 2015.
