Shawn Ryan's 'Mad Dogs' joins Amazon's pilot parade
Shawn Ryan is apparently the latest big name creative talent to try out Amazon's innovative pilot process.
According to Deadline.com, Amazon has given a pilot order to "Mad Dogs," an American adaptation of the British comic-thriller.
Original series creator Cris Cole wrote the adaptation and will executive produce along with the "Terriers" producer and "Shield" creator. Sony Pictures TV will co-produce along with UK producer Left Bank.
"Mad Dogs" premiered on Sky1 in 2011 and a ran for four seasons, though only 14 episodes. John Simm, Marc Warren, Philip Glenister and Max Beesley starred in the story of a group of middle-aged friends who get together for a vacation in Majorca, but end up becoming embroiled in local crime and corruption.
Amazon has already said that its third pilot season, featuring "Cosmopolitans," "Hand of God," "Red Oaks" and "Hysteria" among others, will premiere for audience sampling in August. So it's unclear if this is a fourth-wave offering.
