'Warrior' star says no to '300' prequel
"Warrior" star Joel Edgerton was in talks to star in the "300" follow-up, "300: Battle of Artemisia," but it looks like the actor has other plans instead.
In the Frank Miller-penned film, Edgerton would have played Themosticles, the general who led the Greeks in fighting off the invading Persians in 480 B.C. in a largely sea-borne battle that took place at the same time as the events in "300."
Variety reporter Jeff Sneider tweeted on Friday, “UPDATE: JOEL EDGERTON has passed on the 300 sequel.”
Probably best known for "Warrior," Edgerton also had a small role in the "Star Wars" prequels (as Luke's Uncle Owen) and was in the acclaimed Aussie thriller "Animal Kingdom." Most recently, Edgerton co-starred in the prequel "The Thing."
He'll soon appear opposite Leonardo DiCaprio and Tobey Maguire in Baz Luhrmann‘s 3D take on F. Scott Fitzgerald's "The Great Gatsby."
