Big Boi launches label with daughter
One half of Outkast has launched a business venture with another other-half: his daughter. The rapper and 16-year-old Jordan Patton are launching Purple Kidz, a label with focus on younger artists with music for people "of all ages."
"My daughter just turned 16 years old, and you can see it on MTV's ['My Super Sweet 16'], where they get cars, and things that depreciate and just don't mean nothing. I wanted to give my child something that she can grow and build and nurture. So I gave her her own label," Big Boi told Billboard.
The first signing is 12-year-old singer Gabbie Rae, who has appeared on "The Tyra Banks Show." Big Boi was mum on when to expect another Outkast set, but is working on a follow-up to solo set "Sir Lucius Left Foot: The Son of Chico Dusty."
