FOX wants Steven Spielberg back in the dinosaur business
FOX is negotiating with Steven Spielberg and Peter Chernin to get behind the ambitious (and sure to be expensive) project "Terra Nova."
According to Variety, "Terra Nova" was written by Craig Silverstein and British writer Kelly Marcel and focuses on a family from 100 years in the future, who travel 150 million years into the past and hobnob with dinosaurs and whatnot.
Neither Spielberg or Chernin has a deal year and even if both come on board as producers, Fox would then have to find a potential showrunner, since Silverstein is in first position with his rebooted take on "Nikita" at The CW.
Spielberg knows a thing or two about dinosaurs from his work on the various "Jurassic Park" movies. He's also in the midst of a productive TV period, with "Nine Lives" possibly getting resurrected at NBC and with a TNT pilot recently getting sent to series. In addition, the long-awaited miniseries "The Pacific" premieres on HBO next month.
